Kyle & Emma’s Cairns wedding

Emma is my stunning cousin who grew up in Cairns, I always envied her barefoot school photos where the entire school consisted of a handful of students…I would have loved to go to school barefoot! totally relevant right? Anyway I was so excited when her and Kyle were finally engaged, woohoo, an excuse for a mini holiday…I was even more excited when she asked me to photograph their day. So the whole family flew to Cairns for the weekend and enjoyed this perfectly relaxed, good-vibes, scenic and totally fun event. Kyle and his boys got ready at a friends lovely home while Emma and the girls got ready at a lovely rented apartment in Palm Cove, near to where their beachside ceremony was set.

After the tropical (and windy with a hint of rain – I thought we were going to get hit by a typhoon at some point, but it left as quickly as it came…) beach ceremony we took a drive to an amazing pine forest for some lovely photographs.

Emma and Kyle both love mountain bikes (hence the bike theme at their wedding) and this particular location is a popular spot for such a sport. we managed to dodge the regular stream of friendly bikers cruising down the mountain for some perfect golden light, breathtaking trees and beautiful tropical weather, it was such a lovely afternoon even with the constant buzz of mozzies. There are so many amazing gems all around the area I would have loved to spend days photographing this loved up couple and their funĀ group of friends…

After a lovely location session we headed back to Kyles parents property for an awesome backyard party…live band, pretty decorations, yummy food, party lights, a tandem bike bridal entrance, perfectly balmy winter tropic breeze and some fabulous company…what more could you want?

I don’t often include many family shots in my blog posts but its different when its your own family…plusĀ there were a few sweet ones of our grandma and our little Lucy (yes we thought she was cute even with that gremlin hair she had going on haha).
